Guys.. this weekend was a big deal for us! Believe it or not, B has never spent a single night away from his crib since being home from the hospital. Saturday night that all changed! We drove down to San Diego on Saturday morning and spent the day at the Zoo. B was gifted Goodnight Gorilla a few months ago, and if he wasn’t before, he has since become OBSESSED with animals, particularly the lion, gorilla and elephant.
We arrived at the zoo around 11am and were pleased to find free parking (a rarity in CA) and short lines at the ticket booth. If you’re thinking of making a trip, you can find all the info you need HERE! before you arrive. Kids under 3 get in free, adult admission starts at $52.
B found all of his favorites along the way, although he did fall asleep in the stroller (first time in a year!!) and missed the monkeys so we had to circle back after lunch. In the heat it seemed a lot of the animals were taking siesta. We were lucky enough to catch the lions right before they went into hiding, the gorilla taking a nap in the grass and when we looped back to exit there were many more elephants out and about than there had been on our first pass.
When we got to the hotel, B was terrified of going to sleep in the travel crib and was hysterical. After awhile I crawled into the crib with him which finally calmed him down enough to lay down and finally fall asleep (too bad I can’t share a photo of that!). Luckily he slept through the night and had no trouble going down for a nap on Sunday.
Anyone else have trouble sleepers while traveling??
On Sunday we took B to his first baseball game at Petco Park. I’ve been to several games here sans baby and it is definitely one of my favorite baseball stadiums. If you’re attending with kids I’d suggest the Park at the Park. We purchased these GA seats for $17.50 each, kids under 3ft are free, and had a great time. Prices vary depending upon the opponent and go on sale 2 weeks prior to the game. On Sundays, they also have Kids Fest which offers bounce houses, face painting and other fun activities for kids of all ages. Info HERE!
I’m confident B wouldn’t have made it more than an inning in a seat so am glad we went with the GA seats. We took the stroller and our Skip Hop mat to sit on in the grass, all while having access to the hot dogs, beer and game.
